BUILDINGS BY DHK ARCHITECTS CAPE TOWN
The home of Discovery Headquarters, Sable Park resembles a giant Rubick Cube where each layer has been turned slightly.1. SABLE PARK
Each successive floor is of a different texture, and the contrast between the trelllis like white shading device and the smoothly frosted glass creates an aesthetically pleasing harmony.2. ABSA HEADQUARTERS
Understandig the modern sensibility of the 2020's ahead of its time, the building is clad entirely in shiny black high performance glass. The name of the actual buidling is Bridge Park.
ABSA HEADQUARTERS LANDSCAPE
The planting of fever trees along the edge of the West Elevation creates an African ambience and feeling of nature, that contrasts with the sleek black building. whose offices are based in Cape Town.
3. AXIS APARATMENTS
This white gem is coneived as a large monolithic structure with few changes in materials which has verious cut- our portions.
AXIS APARATMENTS 2
Unusually for an apartment block, the sections are arranged around a central courtyard that forms a vertical shaft of light permeating the entire building.
4. WATERWAY HOUSE
The last block in the series is curved to follow the curve of the road, adding to the modern aesthetic of this luxurious commercial building.
BRIDGE PIECE
Linking two architectural elements with a floating bridge component adds to the modern feeling of this contemporary office building.
TRYPTIC
In architecture groups of threes are a very effective way to break up large building mass into visually legible chunks. The pristine articulation of the building envelope furthers the execution of this classy design.
CHARCOAL TRIM
Charcoal is the most modern colour in building design today and it is hard to imagine how it will ever go out of fashion - used very effectively by DHK on Waterway House at the waterfront.
SHIMMERING FACADE
The vertical mosaic like glass envelope includes darkly shaded fins. By breaking up the distinction between the floors a more modern look is achieved.
